Chess Tao

Chess Tao is an art project that blends traditional Chinese Daoist philosophy with modern interactive technology. Using the chess game as its medium, the project delves into the deep connections between humans, space (nature), and computer-mediated environments. At its core, the project incorporates the Daoist concept of the "Five Elements" (Wu Xing), translating the attributes of humans and nature into dynamic movements of chess pieces on the board. Through technological means, it creates a fusion of philosophy and art.

The project metaphorically connects the finite grid of the chessboard with the vastness of real-world spaces, intertwining the arrangement of chess pieces with human behavior, interaction, and patterns of thought in space. Utilizing RFID technology, WS2812B smart LED strips, and TouchDesigner effects, Chess Tao offers players a visually dynamic and expressive interactive experience.

“棋道”是一款融合了中国传统道家哲学与现代互动技术的艺术项目，以棋局游戏为载体，探索人类、空间（自然）和计算机媒介之间的深层关系。项目核心引入了中国道家“五行”理念，将人与自然的五行属性转化为棋子在棋盘上的动态表现，通过技术手段呈现一种哲学与艺术的交融。将棋盘这一有限的方格世界与广袤的现实空间进行隐喻连接，将棋子的布局与人类在空间中的行为、互动、思考方式相结合。在项目中，通过运用 RFID 技术、WS2812B 智能灯带 和 Touchdesigner效果，项目在视觉与互动上为玩家呈现一种动态且富有表现力的体验。
